    Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III (February 8, 1960 – June 24, 2021) was a Filipino politician who served as the 15th President of the Philippines from 2010 to 2016.

    Hailing from one of the country's most prominent political dynasties, Aquino was the only son of former President Corazon Aquino and assassinated Senator Benigno Aquino Jr.

    After witnessing the assassination of his father in 1983, Aquino became involved in the opposition movement against the Marcos dictatorship.

    He was arrested and detained for nearly seven years during the martial law period. Upon his release, he joined the Liberal Part
